The last installment of the Irregular Crates Podcast series was a special guestmix from Craig Gillman (Loose Link) and as the cold of winter starts to creep in, our resident podcaster Harry Towell returns with an hour and three quarters of experimental music selections.
The mix opens out with the warm guitar drones of Darwin Raymond before a classic from Yuichiro Fujimoto’s ‘The Mountain Record’ follows. Before long, cold enters in the form of piano-based compositions by Rauelsson and the recent collaboration between Sima Kim & Elintseeker on Audio Gourmet. The mix continues on an icy Ambient tip with tracks included by Pausal and Cass. before the warmth returns thanks to the guitar of Takeshi Nishimoto. What follows is a set of three tracks from the outstanding ‘Light Folds’ by The Seaman & The Tattered Sail – an absolutely massive record in more than one sense.
After a lulling first hour, the talent of Daedelus is introduced, followed by a track from Huerco S’ excellent recent album. The mix closes with a Deep House/Techno mix section including pieces by Herbert, Washerman and Steven Tang
