Drew Lustman – The Crystal Cowboy
For the Irregular Crates pages, Drum & Bass, Jungle and Breakbeat genres are new territory but since our taste in music is irregular, we can post up whatever we please. We’ve been fans of Falty DL for a while and so we were all ears when Drew Lustman, the man behind the project, put together an album under his own name. His work as Falty DL has been filed under the fashionable Deep House and Bass styles but here, Drew has some fun experimenting with all sorts…
The opening couple of tracks nod way back to the old school and origins of broken beat dance music. ‘Green Technique’ is moving more into IDM territory with its utter craziness. The album isn’t without its deeper moments as the title-track presents itself as a moodier expression of Lustman’s sound. ‘The Hatchet’ is another fine mellow cut, with hints of Ambient soundtrack riding slow breakbeats. Bass heavy IDM quirkiness sets in with ‘Blueberry Fields’ which is an album highlight for those of us with more of a House background or a penchant for Aphex Twin.
Put this on your car stereo late at night and enjoy…
