Western Skies Motel – Prism

We’ve been fans of Western Skies Motel ever since discovering the artist Soundcloud page a few years back. The sound there was originally a sort of a blend of nostalgic post-rock and country with shoegaze. Since then, Danish musician Rene Schelbeck has released an EP of more Ambient/acoustic work on the Audio Gourmet netlabel and now this stunning debut album ‘Prism‘ on Polish label Preserved Sound. Schelbeck’s instrument of choice is certainly guitar and his playing throughout Prism is out of this world – with the fast but pensive strings delicately weaving a story. This is Ambient music, but the temptation to manipulate the acoustic instruments has been discarded as the rustic charm of the guitar is left intact.
