David and Hjalti – RVK Moods

I’ve had in mind to post up about an excellent Deep House EP from Icelandic producers David and Hjalti ever since the summer, but just never got round to it. This morning I find myself spinning the record again and am reminded of the summer when I was on holiday not long after the European Championships. I’d ripped some mp3s of the vinyl and listened in the Sorrento sun – this has to be one of the finest Deep House EPs in recent years as these artists set about incorporating elements of Jazz and woozy, vintage synths. Aptly, it appeared in a year when Iceland’s profile was raised through something other than music, when they put in a brilliant show at Euro 2016.
