Ponty Mython – Life, Love, Changes EP

We’ve been on the scour for a bit more low slung Deep House this evening and have discovered some work from an artist and label I’m very familiar with already. Ponty Mython’s Life, Love Changes EP came out in the tail end of the summer on Dirt Crew and is a generous 6 track offering. A lot of the top proper Deep House labels are cutting down on the long dubby cuts with big DJ friendly intros, in favour of…more tracks where quality is the main focus.

Here, the curiously named Ponty Mython kicks off with a couple of tracks that will work on the dancefloor, with Changes We Go Through being the main draw of the two. Watch Over Him slows the tempo with 90s Acid Jazz influenced beats. Red Rackem steps in with an excellent remix of a track not actually on the EP – although, it has the same name as the EP itself, so I’m wondering if it comprises multiple fragments from this EP. ‘Love Is Not A Thing’ follows, with disco infused loops, bass and vocals. The EP closes with ‘Lopp 17’ a slice of Slow House to round things off. It’s a simple cut with percussion at the forefront. Another solid EP from Ponty Mython and Dirt Crew
