Ô Lake – Video Feature
It’s not often that we receive video submissions here at Irregular Crates unless included in an album, which is why my interest was sparked when we heard from Ô Lake. Hailing from Rennes in the North West of France, Ô Lake is the piano-based project of Sylvain Texier. The artist sent us a gorgeous video feature of a live performance, filmed and recorded in altSonik Studio in Rennes. The performance continues Texier’s cinematic take on the modern classical genre, standing comfortably alongside the likes of Simeon Walker and James Maloney without compromise.
This performance is sweetened with supporting strings and an extra pianist that lend further expression to Texier’s emotive playing; the addition of roomy percussive elements that build the track towards a well-thought anti-climax. Texier and his ensemble are currently in residence at Le VIP in Saint Nazaire in preparation for a concert at Les Embellies, an annual festival held in Rennes.
