With the last podcast of the year (apart from some special end of year editions!) Harry Towell presents us with a Hip Hop/downtempo mixtape that he had originally created for friends. The mix is entitled ‘Educating Ears’ and features 23 tracks, clocking in at around one hour and fifteen minutes.
The mix scours quality underground Hip Hop selections from the last 18 years, including names such as Madlib, Daedelus, Madvillain and MF Doom. Some tracks feature raps, whilst others let the beats play out. The set features several genre cross-overs including notes of jazz, soul, funk trip hop and electronic music, with various track interludes including a passage of an old Ella Fitzgerald interview, quotes from the Pulp Fiction film and various other samples.
